Montblanc Great Characters Enzo Ferrari Special Edition Giallo Modena

130662 | Rollerball

The name Ferrari stands for aesthetic design, powerful engines, almost endless technical innovation and one of the most influential men in automotive history. With enormous vision and an unbridled passion for motor sport, Enzo Ferrari led his company to unparalleled prestige and created a legend that lives on. Montblanc has dedicated the Montblanc Great Characters Enzo Ferrari Special Edition to the man and his passion for racing. Drawing inspiration from both the crest of Enzo Ferrari´s hometown Modena as well as the emblematic colour of the Scuderia´s logo, this edition honours Ferrari´s second soul – the colour yellow. The dates of Enzo Ferrari’s birth and his first racing victory are engraved on the cone, while his signature and the name of his father’s workshop, ‘Officina Meccanica Alfredo Ferrari’, in reference to Enzo Ferrari’s birthplace, are engraved on the cap top. It is crowned by the Montblanc emblem made of precious resin in blue – as a further tribute to the crest of Modena – and surrounded by intricate metalwork reminiscent of a vintage car grill. Enzo Ferrari’s first victory, at the Circuito del Savio, was also the occasion marking the beginning of the now famous Ferrari logo. Among the many spectators who admired Enzo Ferrari’s bold driving that day was the family of the ace pilot Francesco Baracca, who had served during World War I in the same unit as Enzo’s brother Dino. Francesco Baracca’s mother, Countess Paolina Biancoli, suggested that Enzo Ferrari should use the emblem of a prancing, unbridled horse from her son’s plane on his racing cars for good luck. The horse’s association with a national hero’s courage and will to dominate made it an ideal symbol for Enzo. Nine years later, the Cavallino Rampante was first used on a yellow background to adorn a car. It was 1932 at Spa 24 Hours, and the Scuderia Ferrari team took 1st and 2nd place with two cars bearing the Prancing Horse.

Brand Montblanc

The name Montblanc has always been associated with precision writing tools that reflect the pinnacle of artistic processing and technical sophistication. Founded in 1906 in Hamburg, Germany, where it resides till today, it has quickly gained a reputation as a manufacturer of quality pens. For her logo, the company chose a six-pointed white star symbolizing the permanently snowed peak of Europe's highest mountain, Montblanc. The analogy between the highest apex of the Pole and the tip of the writing instruments is shown on the tip of the fountain pens, where the number 4810 and hence the height of the mountain is located. Montblanc pens were characterized by a simple system and a unique design that caused interest around the world. The Meisterstück model, introduced in 1924, became an instant legend. This collection is one of the best selling ones even today.

The company had a really hard time in the war, but it was finally successful. It gradually expanded its portfolio with high-quality leather accessories made in Italy, jewelry made in Germany, and in 1997 eventually entered into the world of watchmakers. The debut in the Meisterstück collection was a success. The transformation to a serious watchmaker began a decade later, when management decided to purchase the old Swiss Minerva factory. Building on a rich history, the real art of watchmaking began. The first IN-HOUSE caliber tagged as MB R100 immediately launched a new stage in the Montblanc watches. Other machines and IN-HOUSE modules have been gradually added. The world of haute horlogerie has been enriched with beautiful pieces with tourbillon and other masterful complications. Montblanc is no longer just a manufacturer of stationery, it is also a wonderful artistic watches, quality leather and decent accessories that will enhance your personal style.
